Korana Serdarević (1982, Croatia), after completing her studies in Croatian literature and comparative literature, worked for several years as a journalist of the Vecernji List and annexed the Obzor, writing mostly in the section of culture. Since 2014 she has been permanently employed as a gymnasium teacher in Zagreb.
For her short stories, she won a number of awards (Ranko Marinkovic, Zlatko Tomičić, regional prize “Entrance”), and the first collection of short stories “There is nothing to do” (Fraktura 2015) was awarded with the stimulation for the best literary achievements by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia. Her short stories were translated into English, German, Italian, Macedonian, Slovenian, Hungarian, Romanian and Ukrainian.
In December 2017, in the edition of Fraktura, she published the novel “Irene Tot’s Experiment”, which was in the final of Tportal’s election for the novel of the year.
She has participated in many Croatian and international literary festivals, among which are the European Short Story Festival, the Cuirt International Festival of Literature in Ireland and Vilenica in Slovenia in 2016. Except as author, she is also active as a moderator at literary festivals and events in Croatia. She is dealing with literature and language on the scientific level. She is one of the authors of the new high school textbooks for Croatian language and literature published by the School Book.
