Author of the novels The Glass House and Under The Mountain, Sophie Cooke is also a short story writer, poet and travel writer. Her short story ‘Skin And Bones’ was broadcast on BBC Radio 4; others are published in magazines. The story ‘Why You Should Not Put Your Hand Through The Ice’ won runner-up prize in the MacAllan/Scotland on Sunday Short Story Competition. Her poem ‘Forward Deck’ won the Genomics Forum Poetry Prize. She was commissioned to produce her filmpoem ‘Byland’ for the Year of Natural Scotland, and the filmpoem ‘Salt’ for the Commonwealth Games ‘Culture 2014’ festival in Glasgow.
