Halyna Shyyan was born in Lviv in 1980. Graduated as classical philologist. Blogger, photographer, traveller, translator, writer. Participated in Edinburgh Literature Festival, 2010; Lviv Literature Festival 2010 – 2015, Kyiv Book Arsenal (2012), Zaporizhzhia Book Fair (2015).
In 2012 translated and published a novel of Booker Prize winning author DBC Pierre “Lights out in Wonderland”. Created an art project based on it and registred trade mark «Batrachomyomachia» btrmiomax.com. In 2014 debuted with a novel in Ukrainian “Hunt, Doctor, Hunt!” which was long listed for BBC Ukraine Book of the Year award. Contributed to short stories collections “Volunteers” (2015), Guide Book by “Jizdets” (expected in 2015), writes for the web-site of “L’Officiel Ukraine” and “Prosto Neba” magazine. Together with “Jizdets” Project conducted literary excursion combined with creative writing course “Short story over the weekend”.
