Bernard MacLaverty was born in Belfast but now lives in Glasgow. He has published five collections of short stories, (the latest is ‘Matters of Life & Death’) and four novels – Lamb, Cal, Grace Notes (short listed for the Booker Prize) and The Anatomy School. He has written versions of his fiction for other media – radio plays, television plays, screenplays and libretti. He wrote and directed a short film ‘Bye-Child’ which won a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best First Director and a BAFTA nomination for Best Short Film. He is a member of Aosdana in Ireland.
Gregory Norminton was born in southern England in 1976. He has published four novels: The Ship of Fools (2002), Arts and Wonders (2004) which has been translated into Serbian, Ghost Portrait (2005) and Serious Things (2008). His short stories have been published in magazines and broadcast on BBC radio. He is currently working on a new novel and, as editor, on a collection of ecologically-themed short stories by major British authors. He lives with his wife in Edinburgh, Scotland.
