Romania

Augustin Cupșa – born 1980, Romania, studied Psychiatry at University of Medicine in Bucharest. He made his literary debut in 2006 with ”Perforatorii”, an experimental novel, which won several debut prizes and nominations. Same year, he won the HBO Romania prize for ”Trenul către București pleacă de la linia 3” (short movie script) and the European Alliance for Television and Culture bursary to study scriptwriting. Afterwards, he started to collaborate with different televisions and participated to the adaptation of the two series of ”In Treatment” serial for HBO Romania. In 2010, he returned to literature with a short stories collection – ”Profesorul Bumb și macii suedezi” and, two years later, another one – ”Marile bucurii și marile tristeți” which was nominated for the book of the year at ”Bun de Tipar” Romanian Book Industry Awards. Some of his short stories were included in Romanian anthologies and translated into Swedish, Turkish, English and Slovenian. In 2013, he was a writer in residence at IHA Graz.
